If you run a Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard or Premium, then you may eventually come across this Sharepoint Error. Sharepoint Error KB2580174 relates to an upgrade which you need to perform manually on the server.

First thing to do is right click on the command prompt icon, and click on “Run as Administrator”. This will give us an evelvated command promtp to enter the below instructions into.

After a second or two, the command prompt will load. Once it has loaded, you will need to use the following commands.

1. cd C:\Program Files
2. cd Common Files
3. cd Microsoft Shared
4. cd Web Server Extensions
5. cd 14
6. cd BIN
7. PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures

Once you’ve completed all of this, you will see the following lines directly underneath your last entry line.

SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard version 14.0.6009.1000. Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 2010. All Rights Reserved.

Next it will pause for a while then run through the 6 tasks which are required in order to update the server. This process takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. During this process it may repeatedly show a percentage complete that was the same as the one before, don't worry its still running. 

At the end it will confirm each process was successful, you don't need to restart the server.
